CONEVILLE, Pa.—Christopher M. “Chris” Kulbago, Sr., 58, of Coneville, PA, formerly of Niagara Falls, N.Y., passed away in his home on Friday, November 4, 2022, after a courageous battle with ALS.

Born on Sunday, January 19, 1964 in Niagara Falls, N.Y., he was a son of Frank M. and Catherine Zappendorf Kulbago.

Chris was a graduate of LaSalle Senior High School, Class of 1982, in Niagara Falls. He then attended Niagara County Community College and was a 1992 graduate of Buffalo State College with a degree in Secondary English Education. In 2002, Chris received his Master’s Degree in English from Buffalo State College.

For a brief period of time, Chris was employed by the NYS Power Authority before beginning his teaching career for the Niagara Falls City School District from where he retired in 2019.

Chris was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed deer hunting, trout fishing, backpacking, turkey hunting, canoeing, and golfing. He was a die hard Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres fan. He had a strong affinity for Potter County, the place he so loved and where he was able to pursue his passions.

He loved his dog and faithful companion, Ruby. He loved music in general, especially the Grateful Dead and Bob Dylan. He was a remarkably well read man. He could discuss any subject and enjoyed talking with anyone he met.

Left to cherish his memory are his son, Christopher M. (Alise) Kulbago, Jr. of Brecksville, Ohio; his loving companion of 10 years, Sherry Sodano; his father and mother of Niagara Falls, N.Y.; a brother, Mark A. (Michelle) Kulbago of Clarence, N.Y.; and a sister, Michelle D. (Angelo) Penque of Cold Spring, Kentucky.

Family and friends may call from 4pm to 7pm on Friday, November 11, 2022, at the Rhoney Funeral Home, 901 Cayuga Street, Lewiston, N.Y.

Jacob “Jake” McCloskey, 32, of Jo Jo Road in Kane, PA passed away Sunday evening (Nov 6) at his residence.

He was born on Dec. 18, 1989 in St. Marys, the son of James McCloskey and Jackie Johnson.

Jake was a jack of many trades and had worked as a sushi chef in Pittsburgh and at Table 105 in Kane. He had a passion for art of all forms and showed his love by often sharing and gifting his unique creations. Jake was very musically talented and had played in several bands. He loved photography and enjoyed spending time admiring and capturing images while being one with nature.

To know Jake was to love Jake. He lit up a room when he entered it and left everyone in it happier in his presence. He could make the darkest days bright and the dullest days fun. He was truly an extraordinary human, whom without judgement would always offer a helping hand to anyone in need. The world will never be the same without him.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by one sister, Angie (Paul) Hultman of Kane; a niece Lilly Hultman and a nephew Chase Hultman; and his dog Loki.

He was preceded in death by his identical twin brother Elijah “Eli” McCloskey, with whom he shared a unique and special bond.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date to be announced.

Dale K. Woodruff, 71, of Edson Street, Eldred, PA passed away Tuesday (Nov. 8, 2022) in Sena Kean Manor, Smethport.

Born July 31, 1951, in Berea, Ohio, he was a son of Starr K. and Marian Holmes Woodruff. On Feb. 22, 2002, in North Olmstead, Ohio, he married Tracy A. Cochran, who survives.

Dale was a resident of the area for 17 years, coming from Ohio. He was a graduate of Berea High School, Berea, Ohio, and a graduate of Clarion State University.

He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, as well as hunting, sailing, and swimming. Dale also loved & missed his dog, Tucker.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Tracy Cochran of Eldred, is a brother, Larry S. Woodruff of LaGrange, Ohio; and a niece, Loren (Michael) St. Peter, also of LaGrange; mother-in-law, Deb Cochran of Eldred, and two sister-in-laws, Lisa (Patrick) Walker and Nicole (Brian Bell) Austin, both of Eldred.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister-in-law, Lou Woodruff.

At Dale’s request, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Duane E. McGRAW, 82, of Whitesville, NY, died Sunday, November 6, 2022 in his home.

Born April 16, 1940, in Whitesville, he was the son of Clair and Freda Dean McGraw. On September 7, 1974, in Stannards, he married the former Lorraine E. Bender, who predeceased him on September 27, 2011.

A 1957 graduate of Whitesville Central School, he served honorably with the US Army as a draftsman. Duane was employed as an engineer designing bridges by the NYS Department of Transportation for 31 years. He was inducted into the NYS Country Music Hall of Fame in Cortland with his band, The Country Kings. Duane was a member of the Whitesville American Legion. He enjoyed crossword puzzles, watching the Buffalo Bills, and most of all spending time with his family and his fur babies.

Surviving are: Eight children, Donald Decker, Shayne (Butch) Ostrander, Patricia Amato, Jane Coonrad, John Decker, Vikki Hughes, Jolene (Patrick) Loughlin, and Nikki McGraw; 17 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren;a sister-in-law, Yvonne (Bob) Dennis;manynieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by a brother and sister-in-law, Lewis C. and Carol McGraw;two grandsons, David and P.J.;and a great-grandson, Zayden.

Born July 21, 1947, in Penn Yan, NY, she was the daughter of Jerome and Ruth Bentley Adams.On December 28, 1968, she married Donald L. McNeely, who predeceased her on February 21, 1987.On May 21, 1988, she married Dale J. Steadman, who survives.A graduate of Penn Yan Academy and business school in Williamsport, PA, she was employed by First Citizens Community Bank in Genesee.Claudia was a member of the Genesee United Methodist Church.

Surviving besides her husband, Dale, are:three children, Douglas (Colleen) McNeely of Canal Winchester, OH, Lynne (Terry) Pasi of Westerville, OH, and Jeffrey (Jackie) McNeely of Delaware, OH;nine grandchildren;a great-granddaughter;two step-children, Clay (Valerie) Steadman of Wellsville, NY and Holly (Daniel) Pulvar of Dunedin, FL;four step-grandchildren;nieces and nephews.

Kathryn A. “Katie” Dalton, 70, a longtime resident of Eldred, PA passed away in her home with her loving family by her side on Sunday, November 6, 2022, after a short battle with cancer.

Born on Monday, March 17, 1952 in Wellsville, N.Y., she was a daughter of Floyd and Gladys Beach Brisbee. On August 8, 1970 in Belmont, N.Y., she married David R. Dalton, Sr., who survives.

Kathy was a graduate of Scio (N.Y.) High School. She was employed as a cook at the Bradford Ecumenical Home and Eden Heights until her retirement. She was an avid bowler and was a member of several bowling leagues. Kathy loved her animals. Her greatest pleasure in life was attending her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events, choir concerts, dance recitals and musicals. Her greatest love was her family.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 52 years; two sons, David R. (Diane) Dalton, Jr. of Bradford and Daniel F. (Renee) Dalton of Eldred; five grandchildren, Trey Dalton, Parker Dalton, Madison Dalton, Grace Dalton, and Morgan Dalton; three siblings, Judy (Gene) Yeager of Texas, Larry (Debbie) Brisbee of Scio, N.Y., and Karen Johnson of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.

Kathy was predeceased by her parents.

In keeping with Kathy’s wishes, there will be no public visitation. A celebration of her life will be held on a date and place to be announced.

Memorials in Kathy’s name may be made to an ASPCA of the donor’s choice due to her love of animals.

Nancy L. Allen, 85, of Bradford, PA was peacefully welcomed into the arms of the Lord while surrounded by her family on Saturday, November 5, 2022.

She was born on July 10, 1937 in Bradford, the daughter and Gold Star child of Clarence Brace who was killed in World War II and the late Marie Hunter Brace Krakat.

She was a 1956 graduate of the Bradford Senior High School.

On July 12, 1958 in Bradford; she married Franklin R. Allen who preceded her in death on October 22, 2014.

Nancy was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church; where she volunteered for various church activities and the Bradford High School Alumni Association. She was a former Judge of Elections for the Third Ward in Bradford. She enjoyed quilting, knitting and needlepoint along with clipping newspaper articles and sharing them with her family and friends. “She was faithful in the small things because the small things are the big things” is something that her family will always remember about her.

After graduating high school; Nancy worked for the former Bell Telephone until she started her family. Later on in life she was also the Tax Assessor for the Third Ward. She also worked for Southern Tier Staffing for a time.

She is survived by one son, Matthew (Fran) Allen of Scandia; two daughters, Suzanne Doughty of Bradford and Jennifer (Mat) Burns of Beaver Falls; one brother, Michael (Lynda) Krakat of Bradford; six grandchildren, Ben Doughty, Sarah (Brandon) Donahoo, Zac Allen, Nic Allen, Dylan Burns and Rhett Burns; three great grandchildren, Finley, Avery and Shiloh and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband she was also preceded in death by her step-father, George Krakat.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2022 at the Grace Lutheran Church from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM with funeral services to immediately follow at 1:00 PM in the church with Pastor Aaron Reinard of the Scandia Covenant Church, officiating.

Robert J. Wennin, 95, of 5694 Sizerville Rd., Emporium, PA passed away at Erie County Medical Center, Buffalo, New York on Monday morning (November 7, 2022). He was born March 22, 1927 in St. Marys, PA a son of the late Mathias and Hazel Gore Wennin. He married Beverly Averill, who survives.

Robert served with the US Navy during WW II on the USS Quivinus 01/16/1945 to 07/15/1946. He retired from Philips Electronics, then went on to work for the Department of Forestry, and Sinnemahoning State Park. He was a member of theKeating Summit Methodist Church, and a life member of the VFW Post 6221.

He is survived by his wife Beverly Averill Wennin; son, Daniel Wennin (Tonyia), Emporium; two grandchildren: Brock Wennin (Alyssa), St. Marys; Monica Dixon (Kurtis), Mainsburg; seven great grandchildren: Nikkole (Zach), Brooke, Gavin, Beckett, Silas, Zaiden and Keegan; two great great grandchildren, Paisley and Vincent; granddaughter-in-law, Valerie Aikens, Emporium; sister, Veronica Lyon, Emporium; numerous step children and step grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his step mother, Lois Wennin; three wives, Delores Valeria, Nancy Kesterholt, Marisa South; grandson, Paul Gaberseck, great grandson Mitchell, brother, Ernest Wennin, and brother-in-law Robert Lyon.

Edward J. “Ed” Nowak, age 75, of Wellsboro, PA, died on Sunday, November 6, 2022.

He was born on September 24, 1947 in Blossburg, PA a son of the late Victor and Leona (Makowiec) Nowak.

Ed attended St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Wellsboro, PA and enjoyed spending time with his family especially his granddaughter, Sarah, hunting, traveling the roads and canning fruits and vegetables that he picked. Ed loved to meet people and had the ability to talk to anyone. Sometimes so much that they could not get away! He served in the US Navy and was a technician for MBL Technical Services.

Ed was married for 51 years to Bonnie L. (VanNess) Nowak. Ed is survived by his wife: Bonnie Nowak of Wellsboro, PA, two sons: Eric (Lisa) Nowak of Corning, NY, Ryan (Vi) Nowak of Wellsboro, PA, daughter: Shelly (Rick) Ackerman of Richland, PA, granddaughter: Sarah Ackerman, sister-in-law: Frances Schlappich of McElhattan, PA, nephews: Christopher Nowak and Richard Nowak and his beloved dog Daisy.

A 1985 graduate of Northern Potter High School, he was a dairy farmer for many years.Ray was employed by Viant in Westfield for the last five years.He was a member of Bingham Center Bible Church.

She graduated from Wellsboro Area High School. Karen was a member of the United Methodist Church of Wellsboro, and enjoyed embroidery and word search puzzles.

Joye M. Singer, 83, of Brandy Camp Road, Kersey, PA died on Saturday, November 5, 2022, at Penn Highlands Dubois after a lengthy illness.

She was born on August 5, 1939, in Kersey, a daughter of the late John and Frances Stenta Anderson.

On May 6, 1961, at Maria Lutheran Church, she married Michael Singer, who survives of Kersey.

Joye was a lifelong resident of Kersey and a graduate of Kersey High School, Class of 1957. She spent her time reading books and playing with her cats. Joye spent many summers planting and growing her garden with Mike.

In addition to her husband of 61 years, Mike, she is survived by 2 sons: Robin Singer and his wife Virginia of Kersey, Dale Singer and his wife Sherry of Goldendale, Washington, a daughter, Michele Singer of Kersey, and 4 grandchildren; Eric Singer, Jeremy Heater, Brittney Higgins, and Zachary Heater.

Funeral Service and visitation will be held privately by the family.

Burial will follow at Ridge Cemetery.

Joseph W. Proske, 86, of Stonehedge Meadows Drive, Ridgway, PA passed away on Saturday, November 5, 2022 following a brief illness.

He was born on October 11, 1936 in DuBois, PA, a son of the late Wallace and Victoria Samanka Proske.

On June 4, 1966, he married Anne Werner Proske, who survives of Ridgway. Together they shared more than 56 years of love, laughter, and happiness.

Joe was a graduate of Luthersburg High School and then earned his undergrad, Master’s Degree, and PhD in Metallurgy from Penn State University. He retired from Kane Magnetics, and had also worked at Stackpole a number of years ago. He was a longtime board member of First Commonwealth Bank and also sat on the board of Symmco, Inc.

An avid hunter and fisherman, Joe loved spending time outdoors. He found solace on a walk through the woods, and also loved to shoot trap and skeet. For many years, he and his friends would charter a boat and spend the day fishing and reminiscing.

Most of all, he was a dedicated and kind husband, father, and grandfather who cherished his family and loved to spend time with his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife Anne, he is survived by 2 children; Michael Proske and his wife Jennifer of Olney, MD, Nicole Proske and her husband Dana Wolfe of St. Marys; and by his 4 beloved grandchildren; Alexander and Rachael Wolfe and Olivia and William Proske.

In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by a brother; James Wolfe.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Joseph W. Proske will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 8, 2022 at 11:00 AM at St. Leo Magnus Catholic Church, 111 Depot Street with Fr. Justin Pino, Pastor, as celebrant.

David E. GREEN, Sr., 54, of Andover, NY,died Tuesday, November 1, 2022.

He was born February 4, 1968, in Wellsville.

Dave was employed by General Roofing in Wellsville.He was a member of numerous bands in the area over the years.

Surviving are: six children, David E. (Nikkie) Green, Jr. of Andover, Douglas (Heather) Cook of Scio, Dustin Green of Alfred, Daemon Barrett of Albany, Vernon Green of Scio, and Bre Green of Scio;17 grandchildren; two brothers, Lloyd (Michele) Campbell, Jr. of Wellsville and Laramy E. (Tiffany) Cornelius of Friendship;nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his mother, Yvonne Cornelius.

Friends may call at Crosstown Alliance Church, Wellsville, NY on Saturday, November 12, 2022 from 10:00 – 11:00 AM, with a Memorial Service following at 11:00 AM. Rev. Jon Schink will officiate.

Stephen Delano Heffner, age 73, of Elkland, PA passed away on Thursday, November 3, 2022 at his home surrounded by loved ones.

Born on June 21, 1949 in Tioga, PA, he was a son to the late Benjamin and Lillian (Deats) Heffner. Stephen married his long-term partner, Mazie E. Thompson, on October 26, 2022 after having spent many loving years together.

He was a Williamson Jr./Sr. High School graduate and he worked at Corning Inc. for 40 years before retiring. Stephen was said to be the “Supervisor” for many projects that he and his family worked on together. He enjoyed hunting, being a jokester, watching western shows and spending time with his family and friends.

He was a member of the Elkland Moose Lodge #746 and a member of the United Steelworkers of America.

Stephen is survived by his wife, Mazie Heffner; children, Max (Tammy Doan) Green, Stephen Delos Heffner, Alycia (Shawn) Kilburn, Amy (Jay Neally) Heffner and Tyler (Liza) Heffner; grandchildren, Mitchell (Lori) Green, Derrick Green, Kirsten Green, Kyle (Adriana) Heffner, Garrett Heffner, Sasha Phelps, David (Hope) Hatch Jr., Matthew Hatch, Ariane Kilburn, Cauy Kilburn, Andrea Causer, Meagan Neally, Nicholas Neally, Bradley Bond, Madison Agerton and Kristena; great-grandchildren, Isabella Heffner, Raiden Gorg, Orin Gorg, Rhylie Gardner, Isabella, Lilyan, Hayen and Archer Hatch; and special friend Mariee O’Dell, “Ma”.

He was preceded in death by both his parents; great -granddaughter, Ava Gorg; brothers, Durwood, Franklin, Nolan, Kevin, and Phillip Heffer; and sisters, Patricia VanOrder and Joanne Losinger.

Family and Friends are called to Kenyon Funeral Home – Elkland, PA on Sunday, November 6, 2022 from 2:00-4:00pm and 6:00-8:00pm. On Monday, November 7, 2022 calling hours are held 12:00-1:00pm with a funeral service to follow at 1:00pm with Reverend Larry O’Dell officiating. Burial will take place at Nelson Cemetery following the service.

Patricia “Pat” Raymondo, 79, of 2 Greeves St. in Kane, PA passed away Thursday evening (Nov 3) at the Lutheran Home at Kane.

She was born on April 22, 1943 in Liverpool, England, the daughter of the late Jeremiah and Isabella Carrigg. On Nov. 29, 1969, in Liverpool, England, she married Anthony Raymondo, who survives.

Pat had worked as a phlebotomist at the Kane Community Hospital for over 30 years. She was also a member of St. Callistus Catholic Church.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Anne (Hilding) Anderson of Kane and Jennifer Kinslow of Pittsburgh; one son, Steve (Brooke) Raymondo of Kane; eight grandchildren; one brother, Dennis (Doris) Carrigg of Liverlpool, England and one sister Joan Jarvie of Warwick, RI.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Rose Hancox.

Friends are invited to attend a visitation which will take place on Wednesday (November 9) at the Gather Space at St. Callistus from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.. A memorial Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m., with the Rev. William O’Brien, as celebrant. Entombment will be in the St. Callistus mausoleum.

Neva, D. Pence, 82, of Highland Rd. in Kane, PA passed away Thursday (Nov 3)after a lengthily illness and was at the Snyder Memorial Health Care in Marienville.

She was born on Dec. 20, 1939 in Mayburg, PA, the daughter of the late Merle and Katherine (McClelland) Dashner. On July 1, 1957, in Winchester, VA, she married James Pence, who survives. They were married for 65 years.

Mrs. Pence had worked at Stackpole for many years. She then became a stay at home wife and the master woodfinisher for J&N Cabinets. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the American Legion in Endeavor and she attended the East Kane United Methodist Church.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons James (Lisa) Pence of James City, Alan (Sheryl) Pence of Lamont, four grandchildren, Marla, Heather, Steven and Emily; nine great-grandchildren, Vincent, Riley, Kennadi, Ellie, Peyton, Hailie, Mira, Ilah, and Mavrik; three brothers, Milton (Denise) Dashner of East Hickory, Robert (Marilyn) Dashner of Murraysville and Glenn (Dee) Dashner of Loveland, CO; and one sister Lori Carter of FL.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Vicky Pence Morgan and one brother, Donald Dashner.

Neva was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved to travel, having visited all 50 states. Arizona was her most favorite and they spent many winters there as snowbirds. She was an excellent cook and her husband says she made the best dumplings. Neva was also known for her orange whipped jello with mandarin oranges. She never missed her favorite programs The Price is Right, Judge Judy, Wheel of Fortune, and Jeopardy were just a few. Neva also enjoyed cross-stitch, tabloid magazines, search a word puzzles, and junk books. She was old school and loved to buy from the many mail order catalogues she received.

Friends are invited to attend a visitation which will take place on Tuesday (Nov 8) at the Cummings Funeral Home, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. A funeral service will immediately follow, with the Rev. Calvin Cook, officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery.

Memorial donation may be made to the East Kane United Methodist Church, 6703 Rte 321, Kane, PA 16735.

She was born on July 30, 1951, in Blossburg, PA a daughter of Charles Clarence and Eva Luella (Tompkins) Douglas.

Lola had worked as a home health care provider.

Lola is survived by a son, Benjamin B. Moore of Galeton, PA; a daughter, Robin Moore of Jamestown, NY; her siblings, Linda (Richard) Ingerick of Wellsboro, PA, Lewis (Phyllis) Douglas of Middlebury, PA, Carol (Donald) Benelli of Wellsboro, PA, Irene (William) Appel of Middlebury, PA; several grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Lola was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin F. Moore, parents and two brothers Frederick Earl Douglas and Thomas Clarence Douglas.

A private a family graveside service will be held at Whitneyville Cemetery with pastor Harry Colegrove officiating.

Beverly D. Holmes, 87, of Riley Road Apartments, Bradford, PA passed away Saturday, October 29, 2022, at Bradford Regional Medical Center, surrounded by her friends.

Born February 11, 1935, in New York, she was a daughter of the late John and Pearl (Waters) Sebring.

Bev was formerly employed as a private nanny for families in the communities she had formerly lived.

She was a member of St. Francis Church, and the 50 Plus Group at church.

Surviving are two nieces, Sheryl Hayes, and Caryl Wodicka, both of Hilliard OH, one brother, Thomas Sebring, of Lompac CA, several grand and great-grand nieces and nephews, and several close friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, Keith Magee and John Holmes, and one sister Ardell Hayes who died.

Friends may call on Monday November 7, 2022, from 11:00 am to Noonat St. Francis of Assisi Church, at 11 am a Mass of Christian Burial will be held with Fr. Jim Gutting, as celebrant. Burial will be in Weiler Cemetery in Warren.

Dorothy L. Kimmel, 73, of Warren, PA, formerly of Marienville, passed away on Thursday November 3, 2022, in her home.

She was born in Brookville, Jefferson County on May 16, 1949, the daughter of the late Harry B. and Charlotte Davis Ishman. Dorothy worked as a clerk at Howe’s True Value in Warren for 23 years. She also was an avid reader and loved reading a good book.

Dorothy married Howard R. Kimmel, in Tionesta in 1988 and he preceded her in death in 2013.

She is survived by her loving children James Cochran and wife Laurie of Irvine, PA., Joseph Cochran and wife Sue of Marienville, PA., Tim Kimmel of Clarendon, PA., Cheryl Durlin of Florida, Beth Gisselbrecht and husband Chuck of Foxburg, PA.; siblings Floyd Ishman and Bob of Ohio, Robert Ishman and wife Connie of Punxsutawney, PA., Donald Ishman and wife Genny of Brookville, PA., Ronald Ishman of Brookville, PA., Kenneth Ishman of Florida, and Betty Walter and husband Mike of Gifford, PA.,; 8 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents Dorothy was preceded in death by her stepdaughter Mary Wagner, siblings Jim Ishman, Harry Ishman, and Linda McClelland

Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be held in North Forest Cemetery, Marienville.
