Lancers add eight freshman, three transfers for fall

FARMVILLE, Va. -- Longwood field hockey head coach Miranda Rigg announced 11 newcomers ahead of the team's 2024 campaign.

Joining the Lancers in the fall are Caitlin Carraway (Chester, Va./Thomas Dale ), Caylin Donlevy (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley), Ella Elliot (Newport News, Va./Menchville ), Maddison Hyatt (Fredericksburg, Va./Mountain View/Richmond), Channy Johnson (Gloucester, Va./Gloucester/St. Joseph's), Brenna Kadjeski (Galesville, Md./Southern), Sophie Mooldijk (Breda, Netherlands/Onze Lieve), Emmie Pisterman (Virginia Beach, Va./Kellam), Jane Ramsay (Brisbane, Australia/St. Peter's Lutheran College/Louisville), Molly Rothenberger (Fleetwood, Pa./Oley Valley), Mattea Vest (St. Louis, Mo./Cor Jesu Academy).

"I am thrilled to announce and welcome the addition of eight new freshmen to our program and one graduate transfer for this coming fall. Along with this group we had two transfers join us this past spring that have already made an immediate impact," said Rigg, who begins her thirdseason ashead coach in August. "Each member of this recruiting class possesses special qualities both in their play and as a person that will propel our program forward. The 2024 group is an extremely hardworking and talented group with a passion for learning and growing as a person. My hope is for these additions to help us continue to grow the competitive nature we have at Longwood and help build towards competing for a MAC championship."

Thomas Dale

Carraway will head to Longwood from Chester, Va., where she has been a three-year team captain while receiving honors of first team all-region, as well as all-metro.

Caylin Donlevy
5-7 | Forward
Mechanicsburg, Pa.
Cumberland Valley

Donlevy, a forward from Mechanicsburg, Pa., joins Longwood after being a team captain who received all-conference all-state and all-Sentinalas a senior. She scored nine goalswhile assisting on three on the season.

Ella Elliot
5-4 | Forward
Newport News, Va.
Menchville

Elliot joins the Lancers after attending Menchville High School where she lettered four seasons. She is a four-time all-district and all-region selection. In her senior season, she was the Player of the Year, scoring30 goals while assisting on 14.

Madison Hyatt
5-3 | Forward
Fredericksburg, Va.
Mountain View | Richmond

Hyatt is joining the Lancers as a graduate transfer fromRichmond. In her senior season with the Spiders,she started all 18 contests while scoring three goals andfour assists. She was a 2021 Atlantic-10 All-Rookie Team honoree and has played in 60 career games with59 starts.

Channy Johnson
5-4 | Midfield
Gloucester, Va.
Gloucester | St Joseph's

Johnson comes to Longwood after a season spent at St Joseph's in Philadelphia. The midfielder joined the Lancers in the spring. She is a two-time regionand district Player of the Year, she wasnamed to the all-state first team twice.

Brenna Kadjeski
5-4 | Midfield
Galesville, Md.
Southern

Kadjeski is a native of Galesville, Md., whereshe wasa second-team all-county selection as a senior at Southern High School. She was also namedthe Scholar Athlete of the Year. In her senior campaign, she scored nine goals and 13 assists.

Sophie Mooldijk
5-6 | Goalkeeper
Breda, Netherlands
Onze Lieve

Mooldijk will join the Lancers' goalkeeping corpsafter attending Onze Lieve in the Netherlands.

Emmie Pisterman
5-7 | Midfield
Virginia Beach, Va.
Kellam

Pisterman comes to Longwood after lettering four years at Kellam High School. She was an honorable-mention selection in the region 6 as a senior.

Jane Ramsay
5-6 | Forward
Brisbane, Australia
St. Peter's Lutheran College | Louisville

Ramsay comes to Longwood after two seasons at Louisville. As a sophom*ore for the Cardinals, she played in 18 games, scoring in two goals. As a freshman, she played in all 20 games while tallying two goals. She was an all-ACC academic team selection. Ramsay joined the Lancers in the spring.

Molly Rothenberger
5-5 | Defense/Midfield
Fleetwood, Pa.
Oley Valley

Rothenberger is a four-year letterwinnerat Oley Valley where she was afirstteam all-state selection. She scored five goals and assisted on five othersas a senior, helping her team to aPIAA state championship.

Mattea Vest
5-1 | Defense/Midfield
St. Louis, Mo.
Cor Jesu Academy

Vest joins the Lancers after attending Cor Jesu Academy where she lettered three seasons. She was a firstteam all-state and an all-conference selection as a senior where she recorded two goals, 15 assists and three defensive saves.

The Lancers are set to kick their season off on Aug. 21 at noonagainstLynchburg inexhibition action.
